Bar Code System for Stock

Recording of material movement in the company based on manual data input via keyboard directly to the SAP system is demanding and often not precise. Manual data input is moreover unsuitable as a data source for decision making in real time.

Basic function of warehouse management is to ensure flowing material supply into production, to store semi-finished products properly and to ensure storage and distribution of finished products. Support of all these functions is provided by the system of identification and material management in the stock by using bar codes or FRID chips.

ORIWIN hereby offers two alternative solutions:

• system MFM fully integrated into warehouse management of the mySAP information system
• SAP Console, solution by the SAP company enabling to use radio portable terminals as front-end. SAP console is accessible for SAP 4.6B and higher.

Bar codes or RFID chips utilization increases substantially the efficiency of stock monitoring and material management in connection with ERP system.

MFM - Material Flow Management - system of material flow management by the means of bar codes or RFID chips integrated into warehouse management.

MFM is system developed by the company ORIWIN. It is fully integrated into mySAP system. MFM enlarges standard functionality of mySAP material management by the advantage of bar code material identification. It makes easier to input data needed for management and monitoring of material flows in real time by the means of portable terminals with wireless (radio frequency) data transfer.

For communication with SAP, MFM utilizes communication middleweare BDS (Business Data Switch) in connection with database system MS SQL. SAP Exchange Infrastructure (SAP XI) of integration platform SAP Netweaver 4.0.can replace DBS middleweare in case, that a customer has its own mySAP Business Suite license.

SAP Console - is a standard SAP tool enabling transfer of graphic SAP screens into symbols. In this way it is possible to use a symbol radio terminal as SAP front-end.

Starting from SAP 4.6B there are tens of transactions for Warehouse Management ready for radio terminal use. One of the main advantages is that the application development for SAP Console is made in SAP environment (ABAP/4) so no other system is needed besides SAP.
