SAP NetWeaver Web Application Server

SAP NetWeaver WAS is a basic component for the whole SAP NetWeaver. Its main task is to provide application support necessary for their work. It is a developing and operational platform based on open standards supporting web services. It creates run-time environment for all SAP solutions.

It is a unified platform supporting programming languages Java (J2EE) and ABAP. It provides an independency on a database and on an operational system. It supports platform independent web services, business web applications and peculiar developing environment.

SAP NetWeaver WAS comprises qualities and functions for:

• application development (in Java environment J2EE and ABAP)
• developing of user interfaces (Web Dynpro)
• security (autentification, single sign-on, central user management, certificates, digital signature...)
